In the past year, I…
-Have been roommates with several amazing friends
-Impulsively bought tickets to a second Mumford & Sons show and had a wonderful time
-Discovered the joy of thrift shopping
-Re-discovered how much I love Greek food
-Got in a car wreck – and drove a sweet red rental car for a week
-Needlessly hurt and offended several people whom I dearly love, and experienced the grace of their forgiveness
-Worked two jobs: one that I liked for a season, and one that I would (almost) be willing to do even if I wasn’t paid for it
-Held my cousin’s newborn baby
-Relaxed in California with my aunt and in Phoenix with good friends
-Had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid in two weddings, and getting ready for another in the fall
-Had a reunion of epic proportions with some of the most incredible people on the planet (dun dun dun ;)) – aka college friends in Texas
-Enjoyed my family’s company during our weekly family dinner
-Experienced Easter, my birthday, Thanksgiving, etc with friends in Arizona for the first time
-Had numerous fun movie nights, game nights, and girls nights out
-Celebrated friends’ birthdays, graduations, weddings, and job promotions
-Worshipped God in a church that I have grown to adore, with individuals who are crazy spiritually wise and genuinely strive to love as Christ loved us.
It’s humbling to realize that if it wasn’t for the grace of God, none of that would have happened. A year ago (July 15, 2010), I went hiking with friends and almost died of heat stroke. When I was in the ER, the doctor told my parents that I might not survive. Countless people, from the closest friends to individuals I will probably never meet, prayed for my recovery. I have no doubt that I am alive because He chose to answer the prayers of His people.
This past year has been absolutely wonderful. Especially in light of recent events, I feel so undeservedly privileged to have experienced it.
Daily, I’m grateful for my loving and supportive family.
Daily, I’m thrilled to spend time with great friends.
Daily, I adore going to my job and seeing individuals who are working to redeem their past and restore their families.
Daily, I find myself amazed at God’s provision, forgiveness, grace, and love. There is nothing good in my life that did not come from God.
